Body, Movement, Space
This intensive two-part workshop is designed for theatre makers and performers of all disciplines who would like to explore the founding principles of Jacques Lecoq’s approach to movement, physicality and ensemble work. The first part of the workshop will provide a variety of ensemble and individual exercises with the focus on:
– quality and analysis of movement
– levels of tensions
– dynamics of nature: elements, colours, materials, lights
– physical exploration of paintings and music
In the second part the participants will engage in the work with the Neutral Mask. The Neutral mask is essential to Lecoq’s training and encourages the actor to develop a better control over their body and foster a state of presence, awareness and scenic calm. Through the use of the Neutral mask, the students will be encouraged to go past their ‘naturalistic’ bodies in order to increase their level of physical acting and play.
